EF | Design & Planning, LLC was formed in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire with the objective of providing communities and organizations with support, resources, and tools to plan for the present and future.

EF | Design & Planning provides diverse municipal planning, technical assistance, facilitation and coordination, and project management services. We are committed to integrating resilience and adaptation planning into all the projects that we are involved with. We know stakeholder and public engagement is critical to all planning efforts and strive to involve community members using an array of engagement methods, including visual communication tools.

Liz Durfee is the owner and principal of EF | Design & Planning, LLC. Following several years of studies and work in Michigan, Liz returned to New Hampshire in 2013 to continue her planning career in the Seacoast region, a location that has always felt like home. In 2017, she made the leap into the world of independent consulting with the goals of crafting her practice around the functional planning areas most important to her, bringing new ideas and perspectives to projects, and providing flexible, reliable, and thoughtful services. Liz’s approach to planning is to improve the way human activity and natural systems function through innovative and integrated planning. Collaboration, transparency, quality, and commitment are core aspects of her work.

Liz has a B.S. in Environmental Conservation from the University of New Hampshire (2006) and an M.U.P in Urban and Regional Planning and an M.S. in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan (2011). Liz is a certified planner with the American Planning Association, a member of the NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup, and a member of the NH Planners Association, from which she received the 2020 Planner of the Year Award.
