I've had the privilege of working on flood adaptation planning with the Seabrook-Hampton Estuaries Alliance (SHEA) over the last four months. We conducted a Situation Assessment to review existing studies and information on flooding in Hampton, NH and collected input from stakeholders through an online survey that generated responses from around 70 participants. We asked respondents to share their experiences with flooding and to think about types of adaptation strategies that may be appropriate for different areas of Hampton. We also looked for opportunities to learn from other communities. The project highlighted the progress Hampton has made and continues to make to address the multi-faceted challenge of flooding. As this phase of the project comes to a close, SHEA continues to forge ahead with engaging stakeholders, hosting educational events, collaborating with the NH Coastal Program, and elevating collaborative coastal adaptation planning in Hampton.
