What's happening across the Piscataqua River?

I'm collaborating with fellow planner Tom Morgan of TZM Planning on a complete overhaul of Saco, ME's Zoning Ordinance. With City of Saco staff and a group of excellent facilitators, we hosted a successful workshop with the steering committee, board members, staff, and other stakeholders. We used one of the planning tools I frequently turn to for focused, structured brainstorming: the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. The SWOT provided great insight on issues with the zoning ordinance and land use that Tom and I incorporated into our initial findings report. Mid January we close a public input survey that has generated over 1,000 responses in under 2 weeks! Next up in our ambitious schedule is a set of Charrettes where we will enlist 100+ residents, business owners, employees, and others in helping shape Saco's future zoning!
